01 December 2011 No better way to finish the season
Team bizhub finished their season on a successful note winning the overall ladies elite category in the Omnicane Southern Tropical MTB Challenge ...
My first diary Arien Torsius
Well this is my first diary, and so much has happened already.
But first of all lets just say that it is official. This is probably the best group
of girls I have ever been with in a team. Each of them is so different, but so much
fun to be with it is just an amazing team to be on.
Some highlights of our season so far. Must say our bike fits with Marc was pretty
amazing. Specialized organized a bike fit for all of us, but it was done so professionally.
They measure your whole body, they see how flexible you are, how your muscles work,
everything was taken into consideration, and then after the fit you get on your
bike …. and you just feel amazing. I have never felt so comfortable on my bike before.
Thanks Marc and thanks to Specialized!!
Also our training camp in Clarens was pretty amazing. We got to know each other
a bit and we just had so much fun whilst training hard of course .. hahaha
We have Lise, our monster/chocolate addict.
Jennifer, we have become such good friends, she has been staying with me in Bloemfontein
for a month. When she first arrived, it is not in the European culture to be polite,
thus through good team work she is at the moment the politest human being you will
ever come across. =)
Jade, haha I have never seen a girl eat so much chilies in my life before, and she
probably talks more than all of us combined. We went out for dinner the one evening
at Primi, and John told Jade he will eat a spoonful of chillies if she will also
eat a spoonful… and knowing Jade of course she said yes. Well needless to say Jade
didn’t see that John spoon was half empty and hers was overflowing with chilies.
Hahaha, ooo it was so funny I couldn’t stop laughing.
Then we have Yolandi, our moutain biker, and my study friend. Catherine, our British
import, also staying with me in Bloemfontein, Michele the junior in the team and
of course Lilandi our tequila queen.
My worst races this season must be Berge and Dale and of course the EP herald. I
just had no legs … you know those days when you try really hard but you are just
not actually moving … hahaha Well it was like that! Berge and Dale we missed the
break on the first climb and had to chase for 90 km. Ooooh my goodness and added
by that I just had no power, which just carried on to the next weekend at the Herald.
After that I had a race in Bloemfontein which was actually really nice, because
I was able to race and just find myself again ... haha it probably sounds really
stupid, but I don’t know how to explain it better. =)
Well my form is coming along, every weekend I am feeling stronger and in 2 weeks
is the Argus, so lets hope for the best.
Safe cycling
